Have a problem, Could use the help!

Hey,
got lucky enough to marry someone with a camaro, but then the bad luck hit. I loose power after I give it too much gas and it makes some very loud noises when I give it some gas. When I let off the gas the noise goes down and I can speed up. I thought it might be the fuel filter. Changed it, nothin different. Now I'm thinking a vacuum hose or something. Any Ideas would be very appreciated.

More info and details on the car and problem, such as engine, and a description of the noise, like is it a bang/knock, a whine/howl, etc... also, any ideas as to where the noise is coming from, and is the service engine soon light on.

3.4 v6 1994 camaro, It is definetely a whining noise, The whine only kicks in at Higher RPM's I have no clue where it may be comng from for I am in the car when I rev it. No service engine light comes on, it has in the past so I know it works at least.

open the hood and have someone start the car and rev the engine to the point where you usually hear the noise, if you don't hear it at all, then it will rule out your engine. If you do hear it, try to pinpoint the location and we'll go from there. If you don't hear it at all, then that points to the tranny or rear-end, most likely tranny.

When cold the whine is never appearant, When reved slowely I never hear it, When reved quickly the whine comes into play, The sound appears to be coming from the box directly behind the alternator(sorry I am so automotive illiterate). While driving the whine starts when 2000 RPM's is hit.

try taking a screwdriver on touching the end to the alternator while the car is running and put your ear to the handle, and have someone rev, also do the same to the box behind the alternator, kind of like a stethascope, see which one the noise is coming from exactly.

definetely not the alternator. I have no clue what that other box is, it is mounted with a bundle of wires running out of it, and a few metal hoses that run out of it. box is maybe a three inch cube

alright, i'm tryin to get someone who knows the 3.4 better to provide some input...

well none of us can seem to identify what that thing is. I don't really know what direction to point you in right now.

Ok, we have a positive ID, it's the Digital EGR Valve, and it would definately cause the performance problems you described.

and you're lookin at around $160 for a replacement AC Delco brand from Auto Zone.

and on a side not it also states:

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CLEAN THE CARBON OUT OF
THE EGR VALVE PASSAGE ON THE ENGINE BEFORE INSTALLING
THE NEW VALVE
