Logical thinking required

I just recently purchased a 93 ford ranger xlt with a 3.0 in it. Everything works fine on it, but when I went to try the a/c it blew out warm air. At first I thought it was the refridgerant, but then I relized, the a/c compressor power harness wasn't connected to it (it had tape over the harness.) It looked as though someone didn't want the compressor connected. I did what anyone else would, I connected it. I then went into the truck and tried the a/c, presto, it works. Question is, why was the a/c compressor power harness not connected?? Any known problems with these compressors?? Or something else?

There is a possibility the compressor was making noise or starting to lock up occasionally and previous owner unplugged it so he can sell it without any noise coming from it. Heep an eye on the A/C to make sure there is no strange noises coming from compressor.

What kind of noise would be bad. I mean, I watched the compressor activate, it sounds normal to me. What's the worst that could happen if hypothetically there was something wrong with it? lol

The worst that can happen is the compressor can come apart inside and ruin your A/C system. More than likely there will be a rattling or squealing noise if there is a problem. If there is no noise and the A/C works, keep on using it. Also the previous owner may have disconnected it to increase fuel mileage. Good luck and I hope it is minor.
