paint chipping on middle post

I was wondering if any of you have had a problem with the paint chipping off of the middle post (black area nearest the rear window). I have a 2 door alero, it's the B post if people know about building cars. If any of you have any suggestions on how to paint this and with what or just general knowledge on this it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey i have a 2 door alero with the EXACT same problem. A mechanic told me that hes pretty sure the peices can be removed and replaced with new ones. However im not to sure, No ones really responded to my post about that..Hopefully someone knows something about it...

These are easily replacable...I think that they can just slide out as they are on a small track. Check with the local dealer.

I actually went out this afternoon and got all the stuff to paint them, so i'm gonna see how that works out. I'll let you know. It seems to look really good right now though with 2 coats on one side and one on the other. I'm gonna do three on both sides. I wasn't sure about replacing them cus of money and it didn't look like it'd be very easy to take them off.

I would just say, "it's the outside trim piece for the 'B' (middle) post on my alero." You can mention the color too if that helps. I don't know exactly what it's called, sorry. You might be able to find it at www.gmpartsdirect.com

hope that helps.

Yeah i turned out ok, don't fill bad about attempting paint jobs. When I worked for Walmart I set there one day and watch two guys one day go into walmart by paint from the automotive department and then drive to the bottom of the parking lot and paint the front bumper of his grand am in Walmarts parking lot. Then proceded to drive the car no more than 2 minutes after he was finished. I have never laughed so hard in my life

lol my paint job was so pitiful, all my neighbors looked in the driveway like what the hell is that boy doing, lol the car actually looked mint compared to what it looked like when i was done with it, and the car was a 300 dollar beater.

I painted mine and they look really good, the people that saw the before and after were very impressed. Just make sure you cover your car completely except for where you are going to paint, make sure it's the right temp. and conditions. I used automotive sand paper, primer, paint, and you could use a clear coat ( i didn't and it doesn't seem to matter, i just waxed it right after) but it's your chioce. i used masking tape around it and a big sheet to cover the car.

good luck.

I replaced mine today, both sides were chiping. if you want, i can give you the code # from the dealership. It was very easy to do, there are 4 clips on the weather stripping and once that is off there are 3 screws to remove and thats it.
