Fast evo. I thought it was cool that the Ferrari passenger was smiling the whole time even though they got beat. Shows the Ferrari boys aren't just rich pricks.

I think the Ferrari backed off after matching him. I really dont know the times on the 360 but still dude I dont think a stock Evo could do that......wait, was it stock?

It was the Blow Off Valve (BOV). Most turbocharged cars have them (not factory), but it's a fun little accessory that let's everyone know what's up. L8...

it sounds like a pretty quiet blow off valve. also mustang 5.0 if someone with a import revs or drives by on a highway and you hear that sound, then that means they're boosted. me and my friends blows off to these ricers all the time if they wanted to race us, and they just cower in fear afterwards.

but that EVO does sound modded at all, i hardly heard the turbo, i hardly heard the exhuast. but then again, most modded evo's don't get intakes casue it usually doesn't do anything except make the stock bypass valve louder and the turbo sound louder.

and civracer95. all turbo cars comes with some sort of pressure relieve valve stock. and every single one of htem are called compressor bypass valves. they're basically blow off valves that instead of venting hte boost off the atmosphere, it recirculates it back into the intake right after the mass air flow meter. this way that you won't run rich when you let off the throttle.

most cars don't like to have a blow off valve that wents boost off to atmosphere, mine hated it, but nissanfanatics runs fine. every car is different. but its a proven fact that blow off valves makes air flowed metered cars slower, unless its like a SRT-4 which has a blow thru mass air flow meter setup as oppose to a draw thru mass air flow meter setup. it also doesn't effect performance on turbo charged hondas since htey uses manifold absolute pressure sensors otherwise known as MAP sensors.

Thats why I didn't think it was the turbo...it wasn't loud at all. I know what BOVs, but I hear louder turbos then that all the time. Weird.

Personally I think the Ferrari was just messing with the EVO and didn't open it up. To fly past a Ferrari like it's going backwards just doesn't sit right. :2cents:

Just FYI. A 2000 360 will dyno between 310-320whp stock, while a 2003 EVO8 will dyno about 220whp stock.

Link is dead, so I didn't get to see it, but if that EVO has mods then I can definatly see it beating a Ferrari. My friends turbo in his doesn't sound terribly loud (exhaust is louder than it now) and has a weird sounding BOV, and put 347HP to the wheels down at a dyno a few weeks ago. Now he is boosting 2 more PSI but other than that is unchanged. So yeah, I can definatly see an Evo smoking a Ferrari. Wish I could've seen the Vid though :|

The Evo in that Top Gear video was a special eddition Evo known as the FQ400. there are three FQ models that I know off. the 320, the 380 and the 400. each # representative of the brake horse power the car makes.
the FQ400 made all that power from factory. it needed a tune up every 4000 miles and only made like 9 miles to the gallon. it was sickly fast though and as the host put it "practically impossible to crash". he said the FQ could out run the Murcielago in the corners though, never said it was overall faster. the video is so cool though, too bad the link is dead.

It's my brothers Evo.

It's not stock but its not insanely modded either. It's putting 332whp and 343lb-ft torque to the wheels. (370-380hp at the crank i'm guessing?)

The ferrari was indeed trying because we spoke to the driver afterwards and he was really impressed (and not to mention he was burning red haha).

The Ferrari 360 isn't really THAT fast. Yea its 400hp, but the torque is low (like 237lb-ft or something) but if my bro is doing 332 to the wheels and 343lb-ft tq, then it's pretty close ya know?

I was the one taping in the backseat. If we had kept going the ferrari would have eventually started walking on us but considering we were already doing 130mph, it would have taken a while heh.

As for our friend who was buggin out in the passenger seat, he's new to high performance cars so in his mind he witnessed a 4 door import beating a car with a "ferrari" badge on it, so he got really excited.

nice kill. Ferrari's arent that quick fyi, then enzo does a nice 11.2 but the 360's arent much to brag about when your dropping over 100k.

the stradale does a nice 12.4 but most pps here with mods will take or come close to that. And that 13.2 on the 360 spider F1 is pretty pathetic.

An evo with decent mods will be taking the spider and depending on what mods would be up with the stradale.
