what foglights to get??

i have seen the kits that are from the factory that look real clean, but are they very bright? how bright are they compared to the aftermarket ones out there? can you change the bulb in the factory fogs to make them brighter? thanks

Don't get the Factory Fog lights, they suck. I've been shopping around for a better replacement but, haven't come across anything yet. I was actually contemplating re-working the factory ones with better lights inserted inside them for a clean look. If I ever do it I'll post pics.

i installed the factory fog light kit on my truck and i have been very satisfied. they are much brighter than most factory fog light i have seen. The kit is very easy to install and it also includes the factory button/insert for the dash. there is a downside though...the dealer has to program them into the computer which costs about 40$

It all depends on which year truck you have. the 99-02 fog lights suck...on the other hand, the 03-present fog lights are wicked bright. You can also get the complete kits off of e-bay. Sometimes your BCM is already programmed from the factory (very rare) and all you have to do is wire them in and presto!

And can I swap the fog lights in my 02 with some out of an 03 and up?

If you can get the hole in the lower air dam to accomodate the different fog lights I guess you can. I'm not sure really.

I believe the 03's are more square'ish so you would end up with gaps on both sides of the light if you modded your lower air dam. I wonder if the Sierra Air Dam fits the Silverados? They have a decent set of driving lights. But, I'd still like to try and mod my Driving lights with aftermarkets from behind.

i just put in some Hella 500's on my silvy just because i need a very bright light. I put some "stock" foggers on two months ago, and they dont do a dern thing (specially compared to the old Hellas)

My two cents...I bought the factory kit and have been replacing the whole fog light one at a time about twice a side now pass side just broke off again gonna go aftermarket now. they break off where the two mounting holes are. M recommendation is dont do it I have had very bad luck with them..

I also wish the factory foglights had just a regular toggle switch so you could turn them on anytime the key is on instead of only with the headlights.
