clutch / gear issue

Hello,
I have a 93 corolla, stick shift. I can depress the clutch and start my car. But once it is started, I cannot change the gear. Even if I can engage the gear, the clutch seems to release and it jumps and the engine stops, since it is like releasing the clutch too fast.

what could be wrong ? Should I get the clutch / clutch plate changed ?

replace clutch
