Does anybody use synthetic oil? I'm thinking about using mobil 1.
My questions are does it make a difference? How many miles between oil changes? What kind of oil filter? and what is the best kind?

On auto forums, this is Pandora's Box.

I use Mobil 1 10-w30 and change oil every 15,000 or so. One of our members of LLSOC did some research on oil additives and determioned that Mobil 1 0-w40 and 15-w50 offer the best valvetrain protection due to higher phosphorus levels. I've tried the 15-w50 and it causes a fair amount of parasitic drag...it doesn't want to spin up as fast. Never checked to see if actually impacted performance or economy.

Oh, the filter...

I would use the Motorcraft filers if I could. Nobody in my town carries the good ones for the LS. I'm stuck with low-end Frams.

ive used nothing but mobil 1 10w 30. i change the oil every 5000 miles, and use the fram filters with the black grippy stuff on them only because they are easy to put on. the lincoln dealer would put their 10w30 ford premium synthetic blend in.

Get in good with your dealer and get it there. I get a good discount at mine. I am a very frequent flyer as I own an LS. :) :) :)

I don't trust Fram filters.
