Does anyone know what the code P1406 means?

EGR Problem.

Get a new EGR gasket for your year.

Remove the valve and remove the old gasket.

Clear any chunks holding the EGR valve pintle open.

Take Throttle body cleaner and spray inside the valve to get rid of all the carbon.

Reinstall with the new gasket.

Turn the key to the on position and remove the two ECM fuses in the fuse panel and wait 5 minutes.

Turn the key off and replace the fuses.

Start up the engine and enjoy.

P1406= EGR Valve Position Sensor Performance..I would recommend taking off the EGR valve and check for carbon build up..

Great, thanks for your help. I replaced my EGR Valve on August of 2003. Isn't too soon for it to malfunction?

Regardless, I will definitely do what you guys suggested!!

There is no time frame which it is guaranteed not to stick.

Just make sure the valve pintle is moving properly and make sure you reset the computer.

Also, might be time for a tuneup if you are getting carbon in your engine like that.

you mean the ECM fuses right on the side of the driver's door, or the one inside the glove compartment?

The fuse panel on the driver's side.

Thee are two ECM fuses in there.
