Question about tailgate on 99 Rodeo

The lock appears to be broken and I cannot open from the outside of the vehicle. Until I get the time/money to have this repaired--is there any way to open from the inside. The tailgate swings out and the top glass lifts up. I just got this vehicle and I am told by the dealership this could be a 300.00 job. Because it is so labor intensive. I just want to shop around on that pricing but I need to be able to unlock the tailgate for the time being. Anyone know what I can possibly do or not do?
Thanks

Is it possible it's just stuck rather than broken?
I've had mine get stuck from time to time WD-40 worked wonders.

it takes 5 minutes to get that door open
crawl inside grab the net on the botom and pull the lower portion of the panel will pop out of place if arms are long enough reach inside feel around for linkage you will have to push or pull on the correct one to get the glass to open once gleass is open door should open finish removing the door panel look around to see whats wrong more than likely bent linkage or out of place

I live on dirt roads and I have had a problem with my drivers door and now my tailgate, but this time the tailgate was closed and I couldn't figure out how to get it open, until now. Thank You!

I had a similar problem. I could not electronically or manually release my back window or door on my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo LSE. After several misfires, I came across this post. As the above poster said, "thank you thank you!"
Your post along with the following post which contains pictures allowed me to easily pop the glass open and troubleshoot why I couldn't get the window/door combo open:
