My durango would not start. The dealership said after a diagnostic that it was the starter. When they took off the starter they told me that the nose clip was broken but other than a rattling sound it was now starting. I went to pick up my durango and I paid for the repairs and they couldnt get it to start again. Has anyone had this problem? Is there any way to fix it.

I have a question -- did you go through periods where it would start fine and then for no reason start at all? Did the engine even turn over or nothing happen?
I have a similar problem. It is totally random and the dealership can't find a problem. I got a new battery as well.
I go to start it and nothing. No sound at all, no even turning over. Then for some reason later on it will start right up.
Any ideas?

I had a very similar problem with my 99 D last year. It would occasionally just fail to start, really did nothing. I initially assumed the battery and replaced it but a few weeks later the same thing happend. I swore it wasn't the starter since it just didn't act like any bad starter that I ever had, but finally decided that with 136K on it the starter was the logical problem. I changed it out and solved the problem.
