I'd contact midnight haze and just keep trying to get it from them, say they didn't send it to you in the kit...you spent money on a product that doesn't work and you either want the full kit you paid for, or your money back.
I don't know anything about swapping gauges, so I can't help you on what you need, but that seems like a thing that the company should be working with you to figure out. You might want to do a search on here and on 3si to see if this has happened to others.

I hate to be a idiot but how can a DC circuit (like battery power) use a transformer? Transformers are specifically used to increase/decrease AC voltage. Is he talking about some sort of power pack to step up the voltage from 12 Volts?

I've heard bad things about midnight haze but its always been about him selling stuff he dosent have in stock and then can't get ahold of.

Midnite haze does take some time to get orders completed sometimes but Shaun has never screwed anyone. I have never heard of anyone using a transformer of anykind with the kit. Shaun has been super busy lately trying like mad to get caught up so it may take him awhile to answer your questions if you email him or pm him on 3si. He is stealthify over there BTW. Your best bet is to find someone who has the kit and ask them.

Just to change you gauge faces?
On http://www.vr4stealth.com/ in the mod section there are the custom gauge faces and in his installtions guid he mentions nothing bout a transformer.

I know it is a bit late, but here is a thread on midnight haze. On the last page Shaun posted about 2 weeks ago. He lists his 3 email addresses and so forth. Perhaps something in that thread will help.

Might be wrong but I've never heard of anyone needing any kind of transformer to just put in a set of aftermarket gauges. Where was it that you took it to get them installed? It sounds to me kinda like that guy just didn't know exactly what he was talking about. Just put them in yourself and save yourself the money. It's not a hard task really, just a bit time consuming.
