not sure where to post this, but think you guy would appreciate it the most. :)
it's a diesel... but look at the stats:
Maximum power: 108,920 hp at 102 rpm
Maximum torque: 5,608,312 lb/ft at 102 rpm
(for the 14cyl version, pic of 12 cyl)

i've sen it before but it never ceases to amaze me, its a ship engine i think. i read that this (in ratio) is actually more efficient that you average factory stock car engine ! crazy....

The history channel had a show on about a week ago on container ships that showed a similiar engine. I believe it was made by Man B&W. It took a few minutes for it to sink in that is was possible for something that big to work and work reliably.

Imagine if someone were to build a road vehicle for that, it would be awsome. Throw in some nitrous and lighten the whole thing and throw it down the speed way.

Yeah I remember I was on a ferry in Georgean Bay and I saw the plaque with the engine stats and I was amazed. Red lined at under 150 RPM.
Nice link. 350 ton crankshaft..............lol

Dude I hope your kidding. These engines are so big that you could walk around inside the cylinder. They spin at something like less than 100 rpm.

yeah, but it'd be sweet to see one on wheels with a little bit more power. imagine seeing that going down the street(probably wouldn't fit but who cares) or strip.
