Integra Type R Vs. GSR hatchback

On Friday night this guy with a white 2001 Integra Type R shows up. People flock his car like it's a Porsche... (I should talk, I flocked his car too... Nice suede interior, beautiful red valve cover... :) )
So he said, "Anyone wanna race?" He had never raced it before because he said he was driving it around very slowly and he didn't want to run it until he hit about 2500 miles and bought stuff to make it run better for racing. He said he TRIED out an AEM cold air but he felt a loss in hp, he felt like it bogged a little so he put the stock air box on, but he did get aftermarket exhaust and plugs and wires... (doesn't do much)
This guy with a red 92-95 Civic hatchback with a stock GSR motor from a 98 Integra GSR wanted to race. He was running stock air box with stock exhaust manifold and everything, all he had was a aftermarket muffler with custom 2 1/4" piping because he said the stock DX exhaust didn't free up enough air flow and the car bogged a grip. (I was asking a sh!t load of questions...)
I had a feeling this would be a good race, because the DX hatch had full interior, a spare tire, regular sport tires on GSR rims, so it's not really believable that he would be THAT fast. Hybrids run the streets in my town. Not ONE stock car with stock motor has been able to take out ANY hybrids. The closest we've seen was when a Celica GTS tried to take on a CRX Si with a b16a1 , but in the end the Celica still couldn't catch it.
My friend was the flagger.... *highbeams* *highbeams* 3... 2... 1....
Go... All you hear is the purr and tire screak coming from the Type R and the really loud exhaust from the GSR hatch as he slid his tires all the way out of first gear. They were pretty much even off the line. And they both moved so fast we couldn't really tell who had who. The hatch looked like it was winning, but the hatchback is shorter so you can't make presumptions off of the tail lights being further ahead. We heard them shift into fourth gear, but still no hazards being thrown, we couldn't really see who won because they pulled so far away we couldn't see hazards.
Two other cars got on the line to race, but we saw two sets of headlights further down the road a little less than half a mile... We heard two honks, followed by a peel out and we did hear vtec, everyone cleared the line to give space. About 13-14 seconds after the start woosh!!! The Integra Type R passed us with his hazards flaring followed by a GSR hatchback one car length behind.
Guess he didn't pay 25,000$ for nothing huh?

Ok a white 2001 type r...? I know they come in yellow and black but not white. They discontinued that champaign white colored type r. The guy with the hybrid should've takin him. My friend with the b16 rex killed the type r. Both had i/h/e . Well i understand that the hybrid didn't seemed to have much done to it but i think he should've beaten the type r.

all i know is that 2 guys at the track last week ran 14.3s w/stock gsrs

Define stock. If you mean stock motors with bolt-ons, that is hard to believe. If you mean showroom stock, that's impossible. Get the pattern? I'm usually the one that defends fellow Hondaists in here, but you to need come with a better explanation if you don't wanna get bombarded with BS flags.

i failed to mention no back seats and 15 in. spoon imitation wheels(sorry)
ran a 14.3 twice

the other hatch wasnt stock
didnt know the guy so all i could tell from looking was he had a header
short ram intake, no( imean no) interior in the back and no headlight.
he said the best he ran was a 13.9( he did have a helmet) but i saw him run a 14.2 and 14.3. sorry he wasnt too stock.

Oh, yeah I forgot the 2001's only came black and yellow. Weren't there only like 500 American Type R's anyways?

I assumed it was a 2001 because it had the white Type R rims, not the gun metal Type R rims from the 98's, and the rims were a different style too. He didn't have the Type R emblem on the left because he said he got blind sided, it was only a fender bender but it took the emblem and the body shop said they couldn't replace it with an authentic one and he didn't want imitation.

Damn... a 2000 Type R with only 2,500 miles... Well he's a major enthusiast. If I had a Type R, I'd have like 20,000 miles on it already, and I'm talking about a 2001 Type R... I love those cars to death, I want to autocross. As soon as I get the GSR swap in my coupe, I'm gonna go straight into suspension work.

Oh and a stock GSR hatch with full interior, street tires on 15's with a spare tire and two 12's in the back seat is pretty understandable to hit mid 14's, and the driver's skills were kinda fuzzy around the edges. The guy with the Type R said he had been practicing against his friend's Type S Integra ( I don't call them RSX's )... And that they ran a couple times every weekend.

Oh and I just remembered, he had the limited slip from a JDM Integra Type R installed on his car. That's why he only slipped a little bit off the line. The GSR hatch chirped every gear up to fourth, but the Type R only chirped first gear a little bit, and second gear a little bit.

Why is it that in Sport Compact Car, a DX hatch with a b16 swap, with suspension work, good tires, intake, header, exhaust, ran 14.8? It ran 155 hp to the wheels on the dyno. If I'm not mistaken, GSR's run consequetive 150 hp at the wheels on every dyno... (beautiful motors) So if a hatchback with 5 more hp and suspension work get's 14.8, then wouldn't it be reasonable to believe that a Type R with limited slip and a catback exhaust system would beat it?

I don't know, he was a good driver, really nice guy too. He was shocked to death when I beat a Civic Si, but I explained to him that I was going Honda and I wanted a GSR motor. He told me not to get Type R internals because 28 hp isn't what makes the Type R faster, it's Honda engineering.

That same GSR hatch, with gutted interior, slicks, system taken out, no spare tire... It beat a Corvette in the 1/4, it was an automatic 2001 Corvette. The first time he lost, the second time he jumped the Corvette by three car lengths off the line and stayed that far ahead throughout the whole run.

GM autos run pretty close to what the stick version could run.

And maybe im mistaken, but i thought the Only white Type Rs were around 1997. I truly dont know. anyone?

GM automatics in Corvettes and Camaros have about 20% parasitic loss in hp, while 6-speed manuals only have a loss of about 15%. Not a big difference at all...

I want to see that GSR take a Corvette, don't see something like that every day :D ...

Your right Kidrocket. ONLY ' 97 type r's come in white. Thats why i said i never seen a white 2001 type r...unless that guy painted it or something.

fellaz lemme break it to you, in 2001 the itr came out in white but it's called pearl white and they're available in canada. canada only gets PW and FBP. they don't get phoenix yellow. so it could have been a 2001 PW ITR.

i've had that same race but it was a yellow 95 hatch with a gsr motor and all the basic mods. we raced 4 times and i spanked him everytime ONLY because he spun his wheels through second gear. yes yes bad driver. on the last race tho he gotta better start and to 4th gear he was only a 1/4 car length behind and he wouldn't budge from there.

Yeah I guess it was Canadian because it wasn't a 97, it was TOO new to be a 97 plus the signal lights were more squared inside, unlike the 94-96 integras. No wonder, coz when I told him I wanted a white type r, he told me i'm gonna have to go pretty far north. :D

Oh yeah I gotta make a post about that....

97 type r - championship pearl white..
98 type r - championship pearl white..
00 type r - flamenco black pearl or pheonix yellow
01 type r - flamenco black pearl or pheonix yellow

Its all about the tuning and driving ability of the driver!

I'm not so sure about that. I'm in newfoundland and theres a yellow type R here. I'm not sure what year it is, it's got the gun-metal wheels.

why the fuck did you revive this thread thats over a year old?

I just noticed that kidrocket...I was seeing 4(april) so I thought that it was from this year.....this post is toast.
