speedometer is slow to turn on

ok, in my '92 prelude,my speedometer and tact are acting weird i start the car and drive it for about five min. before my speedometer and tact will finally kick in and if i come to a complete stop it starts all over with the speedometer any ideas on how to fix??

Like honeydee said, it's your speed sensor. Pain in the A$$ to replace.
