changing rotors

I am going to change my rotors on my 4th gen VTEC and i was wondering if there is anything else i need besides the new rotor. I have to get new rotors anyways so i think ill upgrade to slotted for a few dolloars extra. i am going to be doing all the work myself and i have a chilton's manual for my model. I was just wondering how easy it was and if I need to make sure if a specific part comes with the rotors or if i need to by extra stuff.

do NOT forget to place something in the brake caliper between the pads so they don't fully compress. coz once they do, the cylinder seals can bust and yo'ull need a new caliper, or a rebuilt one. look for something about the width of the rotor itself. this simple thing can save you a big headache. otherwise, changing the rotors is pretty straightforward. don't forget to put the right rotor on the right wheel too. good luck.

If you are changing the rear rotors out, be aware of the lock screw. On all the hondas with four wheel disc that I've worked on, 9 times out of 10 it has gotten rusted into place or otherwise stuck to a point that the head strips when trying to remove it We usually have to drill it out then replace with another (which can be gotten at any auto part store for less than a dollar) Good Luck!

I personally prefer drilled (or a combination). These are pretty much OEM replacements, at any rate, and will bolt up and replace the existing rotors. I'd go with OEM Honda pads, because #1 they last longer (dust buildup is not as extreme) and #2 they don't make a horrible screeching noise like performance pads do.
