WIP: New Impreza

Felt like trying to come up with something for the new Impreza... here's what i have so far...

Looks good. Fits to the new Subaru design.

Great start, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Imo, your rims are too big! Otherwise its cool lines!

Good sketch so far... don't forget to draw in the other wheel at the other side and a shadow. Are you gonna render this traditionally or digitally?

i like it. seems to resemble the saturn sky a lot at this point, but that's probably gonna pass.
also, the front wheel seems to be turning on an axis directly below the fender.

thx for the comments... don't worry the wheel will be fixed. it was just a rough outline to get an idea of positioning :p

It looks like Auto Express has a guesstimation of their own on how the future WRX may look like. The head-lights and windshield seem to be somewhat like your's but that is about where it ends since they suggest it may look more Alfaesque.

And for the windshield, i think the lines are parallel, but is the angle of my A-piller wrong, making it look higher?

The all new impreza sux! Looks like a citroen and peugeot blend. Taking the worst of these two, to make this shit. Worst the hood scoope, this will allow as much air as a baby would inhale. hey grim, hope you'll end up one day correcting these mistakes for Subaru

New wrx in the photo looks like a bad take on a celica at that angle.
Al least the back end. The scoop doesn't look right with the rest of the car.
I agree this is a really uninspired design by subaru. It looks cheap. Makes me sad.

AutoExpress Magazine is like the National Enquirer of car magazines. They have been known to create images with PhotoShop and pass them on as official. That picture is not real, the final design of the 2007 Impreza has yet to be seen. That picture was created from taking bits of rumors and information from different sources and slapping a modded STi front to a Celica. One rumor that seems to be flying around is that it will definitely be a hatchback.

some of them are ok but i like Grim's drawing better than those concepts

Here's yet another illustration by a car magazine, it proves that for now it's all speculation so don't go by the first photo you see.

On a side note, this is a decent rendering. With some time and patience I think any of us can get this good.

Dammit...why does the Impreza have to change again? I've always been a fan of the Impreza...since 1998. The best Impreza imo is the bug-eyed one with JDM black housing headlights. The peanut eye one right now isn't too bad, I like both. But the one on magazine covers look like crap. And literally...crap.

i think the things you hate are the things i like. i do like the alfa inspired front. overall it looks nice.

i think my favorite incarnation of the WRX is the pre-bugeye style: i think the pre 1999 models? i like the look of the older WRX rally cars.

i think with modding, too, this newest gen of WRX will look pretty cool. it is better already than the bugeye gen. i like the way they did the headlamps on this version. it harkens somewhat to the S15 Silvia.

the bugeye gen can look "cute." but is deadly.

i think i like the Evo better overall than the Scooby, though. particularly the MR.

What's his job?

He's a dentist down in Palm Beach, Florida. Owns and runs his own business, and supposedly he's a pretty famous dentist down there since he does good work, and he couldn't be in a better place. You know people down there want to look good no matter what.

The new Impreza grows on you when you see it in person over and over again. I think a lot people will continue to buy them regardless of this much-criticized design direction, the car is still one of the best performance bargains around. Even the Tribeca grew on me after seeing it in person and then driving it. I wish I could own them all.
