first. are the floorboards only wet after it rains. or are they wet even after they dry after it rains... i would check the doors seal. what i would do is apply paper towels to everything that seals (on the inside). like around the entire door, around the back windows, front windows, windshield. only around the seal of it though and you only really need a thin strip of paper towels. then blast your car with your hose, give it a good spraying, spray all the seals too. make sure your car is dry before opening it... then check it out. if the towels are wet in a particular spot, it check that out. I know my trunk is leaking right now, and to further this question. would it okay to put a line of caulking along the weather striping which isnt keeping the rain from my trunk? it looks like the rain is perpetrating underneath the weatherstrip padding, and leaking my trunk in one spot, so im thinking if i just put a line of caulk where it has that little gap it will be all good... but im asking will it?

I just fixed a 1992 Cav with the same problem. Probably leaves and debris built up in the cowl area. There are two rubber flaps covering the drain holes on either side. One is directly under the heater fan housing under the hood and the other is easier to see on the other side. Clean all the debris from this area and blast with a garden hose to ensure water drains from the two holes.

Your windshield wipers connect to the cowl (well, under it) just a few phillips screws on top and a few 10mm screws under it, on the firewall. The two flaps are on the firewall, one on each side. Passenger side flap is directly under the fan motor housing, the driver side is near the master cylinder, at leat that's how it is on 90-94, yours may be different. What happens is the airbox (vacuum activated flap switch, whatever it's called) blocks small debris and eventually the water can't drain to the flap. I had cleaned it out before, but there was more crap under the airbox, so I removed the airbox cover, the airbox itself and crap under it. Hasn't been wet since...
