2 Questions

1st question: My steering wheel is very stiff.. or a lot harder to turn than most vehicles I have driven before. Do I need a new power steering pump or what should be done?

2nd question: Appearantly I have a blown head gasket on my 95 4.3w cpi engine. Since then there has been this rattling sound that is pretty loud coming from somewhere in the engine. It's very noticeable when I'm idling, but after about 5-10 seconds of idling it goes away. Any ideas of what's causing this?

I bought the blazer second hand from a family friend and it had a new engine put in 50,000 prior to me buying it. I'm kind of pissed because the engine goes bad when I have it :P Also how is the S.E.S. light disabled? When I went to get it I/M'd it failed because one, a weak cat, and two a disabled S.E.S. light. Is it possible that when the new engine was put in the light was damaged or never connected or what? If that be the case I will try to pin some of the problems on the mechanic cause this is b.s. lol.

steering problem is probably the pump but might be the box or colapsed hose. rattling sound is a lifter that is bleeding down after the engine has been shut off for a while. check engine light is probably a burnt out bulb unless someone took it out.

Every greased the 10-11 grease fitting on your front end?

How do you know the head gasket is gone? Is it overheating? Is there coolant in the oil causing the oil to be milky? Is the exhaust spewing out thick white smoke all the time?

Go you are saying that you are getting a knocking noise when you start your engine?

Lemme guess, you are using a fram filter. If you are, replace the filter will one from WIX, NAPA, or AC delco. NOT FRAM.

Check to see if the bulb is fine, it could be blown.

Go get the codes scanned at Autozone for free.
