Could be Jim Clark's just as easily. Gerd sold both of his, IIRC.

No. It says in the description that it is Gerd's, even if that is wrong, no one else in florida, has a CLK-GTR, F50, EB110S.

Plus, Jim's is a much lighter silver

The date on the photo is 1999. That shot was probably taken right before this car went to Newport Autosport. Then it went to Motorcars Intl, then on to Seth Neimann, and finally to Gary Schaevitz in NY.

Edit: I don't have the full date range from when the car was at Newport Autosport, but I do have one set of photos that were taken on 9/09/2000 - so about a year after this Osprey, FL shot.

Well, we don't know who wrote the description. It could be someone who is just assuming that it's Gerd Petrik's car. And just because he throws in other facts about Gerd's other cars doesn't make this assumption true. Besides, how is Gerd's ownership of the other cars proof that this is his car??!

Now that Peloton has clarified when the picture was taken, I agree that it is Gerd Petrik's car. But your reasoning is based on a faulty premise.

Cut the crap :greddy2: . Its obvious its Gerds car. His car was Dark Grey. Why would the guy who took the photo claim that it belonged to someone it didn't and then say his other cars were there.

Chill out :grinno:

I am just saying the guy might not have known. He could be one of those kids who just read about Gerd in the local paper, saw a McLaren, and put two and two together to come up with twenty two. Just because it's a rare car and you know of someone who has it, doesn't mean that if you see one, it absolutely belongs to him. Chances are, that is indeed the case, but it's not a definite fact.

You said that it's a fact because of the caption.
You said that it's a fact because Gerd owned a similar car.
You said that it's a fact because Gerd owns other exotics.

Tell me how these add up to proof?

Based on the date and color info that Peloton provided, I am inclined to agree with you and Peloton. But what you cited as the reasons for your conclusions...were not facts that could logically lead to your conclusion. Anyways, I am chillin', how about you, cupcake? ;)

So, he couldn't have turned into this street and seen this?

The driveways look similar too. Palm trees and all. But then again, there could be another F1 owner with almost the same layout of his garden and drive

Like you said, chill. You're really going off on a tangent here. I don't memorize people's driveways...and again you are bringing in info that was neither in the picture nor in the caption. Besides, there's palm trees in a lot of places, and all over Florida. Explain to me how that proves a certain car belongs to a certain person?

A palm tree is not really proof of anything, except that you should watch out for falling coconuts! :D

Peloton only read what was on the weblink itself, in the bottom left hand corner stating 'date spotted'. Going by what has been said in other posts, the person who added this photo to the Exoticspotter.com website could have had his dates wrong, may well have put 2 and 2 together to get 22 and heard there was a Mclaren F1 in the area and that Gerd owned one and made an assumption that the car was Gerd's

Anyhow, its a nice pic :iceslolan

They might be in theflinger's gallery, but I am not positive and don't have time to check. I would be surprised if they were hosted anywhere else right now, so there is nowhere to point you to. If they aren't in the Gallery I will try to add them soon.

Actually some of us do indeed have a clue about the things we talk about so your blanket statement is a little unjustified. :)

Hey there,
Just wanted to illuminate the discussion.

I was a salesman at newport autosport from May 2000 thru end of 2001. The McClaren F1 was medium silver, it was number 45 can't remember. It was owned by both us and motorcars intl. We shared a 50% profit on the deal. It sold for 1.3M dollars. It sold to a man in the tech business, not Jim Clark, however he did look at it. It came to us in maybe december or january of 2000 and had been on the showroom at motorcars intl. before that. The car went straight to the owner from our showroom.
