Sequential or not

Now that I am planning redoing the turbos, I heard about a twin turbo kit that isn't sequential and is suppose to be mor realiable. Don't know if it is true I saw it in an add for another RX. Have you guys heard of this. Would it be better to one mine without the sequential? Thanks for any help

dont need to rebuilt the turbos to have then unsequencial, you can do it with a hose job

benefits are :
better reliability : less hoses and no transition
no matter what, the car will be faster

downdraw :
the car will feel slower, even tho its not.

the sequential is the best part of the driving experience. nothing beats hitting one turbo at 3k and one at 5.5k. i wouldnt go make it one, unless i went with a huge one.

he doesnt mean switching from the twins to a single, he means disableing the sequential activation on the stock twins.

ya, i know, ive heard of it done, but i wouldnt want that. i love the sequential feeling.

Thanks for the help guys. So all I have to do is get someone to reroute the hoses or something? I also heard that better gas mileage would be expected because there wouldn't be a turbo spooling at lower rpms to suck fuel, they would both kick in at around the same time. Just something that I heard somewhere. Thanks again for the help. I am actually checking out a 94 fd tomorrow so wish me luck ;)

good luck, if gas mileage is what ur after, dont by that car! but think about it, the power comes from the turbo. if u dont have a turbo spooling at low rpms, ur car wont be fast in low rpms. its like a 4cl until the turbo kicks. id keep it sequential.

ok, I am going to go out on a limb here. If I understand it right, isnt the seq turbo less reliable because of heat? From what I understand, the larger turbo tends to get way too hot because the smaller turbo is getting all the airflow and the larger turbo is still getting the hot exhaust, but since its not being driven hard (normal driving) it just sits there in hot exhaust gasses from the smaller turbo and doesnt spin up to move its gasses. Its not passing gas, which known to all males is extremely mandatory!

Yes yes I know, its all in the same exhaust system, but one is much larger than the other. from what I have looked at and read and talked about and seen, the larger turbo goes out first, and often. so this being said, would twins be better?

larger turbo heats less


twins are good for stock power, it gives plenty of juice on all the way band, but the engines lack of exhaust pressure will keep u from running big numbers with a twinturbo setup.
