ok, ive asked a couple questions and have only gotten a small amount of feedback. (thanks for those who gave me some). IM planning to do a 400 small black swap backed with a TH350 transmission into a 87 s-10 extended cab short bed 2wd. can someone give me a website where i can get the new motor mounts? also, what kind of rearend am i going to need? can i just pull one out of another truck and put it into the s-10 without TOO much modifications? one more thing..how am i going to hook up the old witring harness to the 400? anyone who has had experiance with this or knows anything about it PLEASE HELP!! im on my way to building an SS-10, something to put mustang 5.0's into the dirt! thanks!

might not be able to use the old wiring harness....depends on what the 400 has...carb\f-i. might be better to get an ecu and wiring harness for the 400 if possible.

you will want all the stuff from the sb, brain box, ecm, wireing harness, most likely a better fuel pump, keep it with the f/i if it has it, most likely you will run across a carb moter, and that will be fine, but you will still need all computer stuff from the 400

Advanced adaptors makes the motormounts for the swap. There pricy. www.advanceadapters.com

Most people just use 2.8L s-10 motormounts, and make an adptor to fit the motor.

The 7th photo on that waeb page that I gave you shows how he made his

Painless Performance would probably make you up an adapting wire harness, but you can probably get an 82 - 85 carburated wire harness and adapt them to the application.

About the rear end. You should be fine with the stock rear end. All that I would do is change the axles to aftermarket axles, and if your still nervous about it there is a bearing kit that will allow you to use the rear end guts from a V8 comaro. My mechanic friend did it to his 500hp Vega. He ran a stock rear end with aftermarket axles for years with that much power, problem free (with slicks on... they don't spin they break axles or twist drive shafts).

I saw my mechanic friend today, but he was too busy to ask about what cars to look in for the motor and transmission.
I have to see him tomorrow and he will hopefully have more time

That really depends where you live, and what you want.

Where I live, in the hottest part of Canada I could really use air about 3 - 4 months a year most years but I just put up with it, and do most of my driving after dark.

If you live in California you probably want it.

It's tough to fit everything under the hood with air, but I'm told that it will fit

Like I said, a friend of mine ran 500hp on a S-10 rear end. He only changed the axles to aftermarket.

Unless you run NOS I don't think that you'll have to worry about the stock rear end.

If your worried just beef up your exsisting rear end
I'll ask my friend as soon as I can if he can tell me who he got his parts from. He used a comaro 8.5" guts in his chevy s-10 7.5" rear end by just using special bearings
