I am working on building a car for my son and he bought a t28 replacement for the t25. The t25 was blowing oil and after we did the swap, the car does not spool much and when spooled about 3000, it sounds like it spits or the turbo stops. The car loses its its spool when this happened. I have not let him mess with it since. Anyone with any info to help would be appreciated. He was told it was a direct bolt on replacement, but I think we are in need of a few more things to correct this problem. Maybe fuel pump and injectors and boost controller? I am new to this and am totally lost.... thanks

Just a few things of advice...
www.vfaq.com has ALOT of info for the do it yourselfer...
Was the t28 new or used?
If the car ran fine before the turbo swap besides the oil leakage... you probably don't need fuel pump, injectors, and boost controller.
If you do get a boost controller... get an aftermarket boost guage first because the stock boost guage is REALLY vague and you want to be able to "dial" the boost controller in acurately so you aren't going to blow the new turbo...
Was it blowing oil into the licp/uicp?(Lower/Upper intercooler pipes) I would suggest checking and cleaning them inside if necessary...check all the way from the turbo to the intake manifold...
Next time you are going to get new plugs for it I would highly suggest getting the NGK BPR7ES plugs and gap them about .027-.028
Also check to see if you might have a boost leak... check all the piping from turbo to throttle body to make sure everything is tight... also the vfaq.com has plans to make yourself a boost leak tester which is an invaluable tool for turbo's!!! I made one and am very glad I did....even a small boost leak can bite ya in the ass!!!!!!!!!
hmmm... check to make sure your hoses for the wastegate actuator (WGA) are hooked up properly... if the wastegate is open too much then the turbo won't want to spool up if the exhaust is being routed away from the exhaust compressor wheel and through the wastegate.....I don't know I'm just rambling on now... lol
Anyways... The best thing to learn about this shit is to read alot of the vfaq.com site... I learned alot and owe thanks to boostedspyder for showing me that site!!!! And of course doing searches on automotiveforums is invaluable too!!!
Good Luck and welcome to AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah... post your car info in your signiature so we know what ya got!!!
