You need a socket (usually an impact socket) that will almost fit around the lug key. It has to be slightly too small. Then you need to hammer the socket onto the lug, usually with a fairly large one-hand hammer. Be careful not to smack your fingers, and make sure the socket is going on fairly straight. Hammer it on, then use a breaker bar to remove the lug. Just for point of reference, it will be extremely difficult to remove the lug from the socket, so spray it very liberally with liquid wrench or similar and leave it for a few hours, then give it a shot using a punch or something that fits all the way through the socket drive hole. You need an impact socket so you don't split the side of the socket while you're hammering it onto the lug. They do make a set of tools for jobs exactly like this one, but the set will run at least $100 and won't make the job much easier. The socket will probably be less than $15.

Casey, thanks for your advice, it worked like a charm not only once , but three wheels needed to be done, I used an impact socket and, amazinly got it unattached from the lug bolt on the first two, but the third one got hold of the socket real good so I am going to soak it in oil overnight and hopefully will come out of this problem without any cost. thanks again for your insight, and hopefully someday can help you, Dan

You can also get a special lost wheel lock socket set designed just for this, they're available from snap-on to Chinese quality.
