ok Xeno asked... and I guess it has been a while... here's the progress.
What have I been doing with my time, you ask?
So I say...

Painted the engine bay flat black and fluid resovoirs (*spelling) with hammered gray paint.... you can never see through those things anyway... it looks better. everything is really dusty right now... will look better after I clean it.Click here for before pict (http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/camaro/update/old_engine_bay.JPG)
http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/camaro/update/engine_bay.JPG

Painted headers (originally black) with high temp gray... i think this will really stand out with the black engine bay

Put in performance shocks, lowering springs (1.75inches), steering brace, painted sway bar.... still have to get new polyurethane sway bar bushings. Also notice the new undercoat in the wheel wells. click here for before pict (http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/camaro/update/suspension.JPG)
http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/camaro/update/new_suspenion.JPG
the new shocks push down so hard that the wheel sits at a noticable angle when there's no engine weight on it.

here is the steering brace (from TopDownSolutions.com)(the red one) ... click here (http://bengal.missouri.edu/~klm217/camaro/update/steering_brace.JPG)

Added performance servos to tranny (supposedly better than Corvette servos), larger tranmission oil pressure boost valve (.500"), I bought new Red Eagle clutches too, but I will put those in when I burn the old ones out. Also got "Beast" reaction shell (supposedly a weak spot), notice the thicker metal on pict. All thanks to transmissionhead.com

here are the assembled servos

Polyurethane tranmission mount. the old one would have broken in no time

I will paint the tranny when I take it out next time to put in the new clutches... I don't feel like doing it right now.

This is mostly what I have spent money on so far over the course of 4.5 months.... if you want to do this stuff, plan on being completely broke for the entire duration of those 5 months.

should be a vast improvement from your v6 instantkevin.

I'm just praying nothing goes wrong with it the first time I start it up.

I forgot... I been sanding the entire car down too. It's so smooth and clean right now I dont want to put primer on it.

If anyone has any paint ideas/combos that don't involve red, black, or light blue as the primary color, please let me know. I think I'm going with a light metallic silver (with black interior, later) just cause I don't know what else to do right now. Still open to other ideas.

i think silver is a sweet ass color on 3rd gen camaros, especially with your zr1 wheels, that would look very nice, get like 5 clear coats so its all shiney.

sounds sweet i did a 350 swap 3 summers ago and im revivng it as we speak 350 punched 30 over performer rpm intake meling high volume oil pump still running a quadrajet 795 cfm got an accel brute thunder coil and the module to match (like ill ever get to 9000 rpms lol) 2 3\4" manderal bent exhaust 600ft lbs traction tortion bar (not ladder bar either) bm mega shifter cam (to old to even know bought it off a buddy) retro fit roller lifters (hopefully get roller rockers to match before the end of the year) th 350 auto mbuilt to the hilt new h2o pump new alt new radiator (one years use) hole in the hood for the intake to fit and i think thats about all the drivetrain

hey have you checked for clearence oif the intake you choosed???
i had to cut a whole in my hood for my (or just leave it poped) i did a double stak on the filter to allow air to be forced in (boy you notice that at about 80+ when you let off and get back on it, and at 120+ you really notice it)
allthough i blew it up at the end of the summer it was an awsomw all out speed 160 or 70 at 7000 rpm within 1\2 mile
snapped the cam in 3 rip a connecting rod off the crank whew it was a rush though ohh yeah and dropped the back 4 lifters and pushrods lol

dont try and take her past 6500 without aftermarket rods lol

No i haven't checked the air cleaner clearance yet, but I did ask some other guys on here what they are fitting under the hood and some of theirs are taller than mine.. so i think i will be ok.

Yea... a while ago I was wondering how I would know where my redline is (without finding out the hard way like you). I found a site that had a formula that automakers use to calculate the redline based off of the crank stroke. According to that a 350 will redline at 6300rpm. They said it's a pretty reliable calculation because they have been using it for nearly 20 years. I don't plan on revving past 6000-6100 (I'm getting the MSD capacitive discharge box with rev limiter in a month or so). Plus I have ARP bolts on the rods and main bearings.

But the good thing about breakin it is you can build it even more powerful than before... don't just fix it, make it sick!!!

How about orange? I think it looks awesome on 3rd gens, or green like my maro.

black laquer no clear (i know it black but whats a resto project without the sign of resto)
and what carb do you hjave on there cuz i was told it wold fit in mine but oh no but i had that tall ass quadrajet too and if you go qua\drajet i can get you a link to tune it to a higher performanc elevel tjhan most anyother carb(minus higher cfm when needed)
and i reved mine regularly to 6500 but when i went past thAt is when everything went snap loli had dual 2 and a quarter then but i goit a fully welded manderel bemnt alluminum exuast on a camaro i bought the old one sounded like it jumped up to a nothch abopve from the 4000 rpm up (i dont know if maybe thats when the timming curve changed ??? still has me baffled that it went from blaht to BLAHT within less than 500 rpm almost instant same ropm everytime i cant wait for my raw piower 350 to come back to life
i did try and start it though have to get a fresh battery and set the tioming and put some new wires to it i thimnk someone pulled a couple of wires and switche dthem aron she ran last timne i started it actually idled now it just spins and pufs and when she finnally oprimed wow i though i was gonna die it was louder than a gun and my valve cover flew up like a foot or 2 into my visual while i was next too it and then there was fire sun of a sdfhbkwhwatgr definitly gort gas there lol
