/\ you're a rookie!! 3-4 cups a day, hah !!!

I drink 3-4 cups before 10:00am. I used to drink 10-12 cups a day at work. And not the small cups either !!! My travel mug is the size of 2 regular size mugs!!!! I have cut way back recently, now I'm drinking more water than coffee.

*sigh* I used to love coffee, still do on days like today when im nursing a hang over from saturday...yes its monday and im still hung over, If you dont believe me I have a doctors note to prove that I should be hung over still.

Anyway, I used to drink most of a pot of coffee (at least 8 cups) every morning before my 9:00 class, then I would have a few cups in the afternoon usually about 2 then I would have one or 2 before going to work all night until 6am, after about 10 at night mountian dew kicks coffees ass. Coffee is the greatest invention ever when you dont have a chance to sleep for days at a time.

Drink mine COMPLETELY straight. NO cream, sugar, any of that bullshit. No Lattes, Frappucinos, etc... cream is for PUSSIES! I used to drink 8 small cups a day, since my mug is also the size of a double. But I'd NEVER drink it after noon. Somehow it just felt wrong. Once when my friend was in the ICU for a day and I had to stay the night with her, I had like 2 dozen cups... Since, I've really really cut back. I'll start drinking more when may rolls around and I have to get up earlier.

I hate coffee and the taste of it. As for staying up all night coffee doesn't do it. A 1 liter bottle of Mt. Dew with 10 pixie sticks mixed in it will do the trick.

I usually drink 1-2 10 cup pots a day. 1/2 pot fits in my morning travel mug that I drink between 7 and 8 in the mornign the other pot and a half is evenly dispersed throughout the day.

speaking of herbal tea, and cookies... I like herbal cookies :smokin:

I drink coffee because Im staying with my sister and she drinks it. I don't think I'll own a coffee maker until I have a house and kids.

You guys should calculate how much money you spend on coffee, and then estimate how many other things you could buy instead. If you buy one starbucks drink a day and tip a dollar, thats about 5 bucks a day. 5 days a week, thats over a hundred dollars a month. save that for a few months and you could have 600 dollars for performance parts for your car! I wish I could go back and save all the money I've spent on weed. I would be RICH!!

Wow....thats alot of coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my dad is. He likes it Black, I like it *crisp* My dad drinks abour 7 or 8 cups a day....and I thought that was alot.

Well...you know, Nestle's coffee crisp!. The best snack ever. :p I can usually stay up pretty late without any caffiene....I usually stay up to 2:30 during a normal schoolday and get up a 6:30 everyday. Only exception is on Friday, where I usualy get an afternoon nap from 4:00 to 6:00. Its still high school, I'll be dependent on Mountain Dew in University.

I guess it depends on my mood. I usually drink one cup before I get into the car. Once at work I drink between 3-4 throughout the day. But at dinner time and throughout the night I drink earl grey tea. (Actually I am starting to drink more tea than usual.

well only time I actually buy cups of coffee is either when my roommate finishes my can and I wake up at 5 only to realize I have to drive down to the gas station to get a cup rather than just make some or when I go out with a friend to chat and drink a cup.

As far as that dollar tip... well I don't really believe in tipping so i save there haha. I mean i'll tip a waitress at a restaurant (as long as he/she earns it) but as far as tipping a cashier at a coffee shop? please, its their job. If they want more money negotiate with the employer. Its bad enough they already make you pay 3.50 for a coffee.

I dont believe in NOT tipping. In small shops like that I usually give a dollar or my change if its close to a dollar. But in restaurants the server would have to do an awful job for me to give under ten percent. I've worked in a lot of jobs where my income depended heavily on tips, and I understand the feeling when some cheapo takes all his change and sticks it in his pocket and walks away.

EDIT::::
So as not to whore up this thread on a dif topic, I'll reply to your post at the bottom of this page, right here. I can't say I disagree much about that, but a coffee shop is one of the places I think tips are standard. It's a food service. You dont shaft a bartender because "Its their job." They made you your drink, at least give them your spare change. :2cents:

I own one coffee maker that makes coffee on one side and espresso on the other side ( eBay under $50), one small espresso maker that fits on a stovetop burner, and a couple 10 cup coffee makers I keep for spares in case the big one fails me. I signed up for those Gevalia offers and got the extras for free when I purchased a pound of their coffee. I used to drink a lot of coffee during the day but now a little less but much more stronger, ( my motto: the stronger the better!) I just read a report where the price of coffee is expected to rise dramatically over the next few months as supply is expected to dwindle. Already some of the major coffee companies have increased their wholesale price, and in turn the stores have raised their shelf prices.

That would be a good topic for a new thread. I've noticed a disturbing trend at least in our area over the past few years- "abuse of the tip container" Now don't get me wrong, I tip in a restaurant and such, but tip containers are now starting to appear all over the place. I first noticed one at our local ice cream stand, then the gas station/convenience store ( not to be confused with the dish for the extra pennies, this was labeled 'tips'.) I've also seen them at auto parts stores, dry cleaners, and the video store. I mean come on, they are starting to appear all over the place! It's like wherever you go, someone has their hand out. In those places I deem inappropriate, the message these tip containers say to me is, "Please help support me as I'm too lazy to find another job that pays more." In my area there are plenty of jobs available that pay a higher wage, employers are constantly looking for more people to fill their jobs, so it's not a question of being unable to find more sustainable employment.

eh I just feel that I already pay an enormous fee (for a coffee) to the shop so therefore the employer should pay better. And I mean they charge me for a coffee then expect me to pay their employees also? why not just leave some coffee grounds and a pot out and i'll make my own while i'm at it and eliminate the middle man. It just seems like an odd thing when the customer pays the employees and the employer doesn't.

I usually drink about 3-4 cups a week. Same with tea. I'll have a cup (coffee or tea) after dinner and usually a cup of tea when I get home from diving. I like both of them straight out of the pot; no cream or sugar to mask the taste.

I drink atleast a cup an hour while I am awake. In the morning I take 2-3 cups to take the edge off. I like mine black. I have had several of starbucks hot coffees that are nasty even the iced ones aren't great. Everyonce in a while I will have a sip of some drink my sister gets otherwise pretty much straight black. Also I LOVE Guinness because it has a coffee "taste" to it.

If you like straight black coffee like me it cost less than two bucks even at StarBigBucks. As far as tips, for what? I never could figure out why I should give them a tip for handing me a cup, and I'm a generous tipper. I would give up drinking beer before I quit coffee.

Starbucks coffee is way too strong and expensive. Buy a small and pour it into a medium cup and fill the rest with hot water. Better yet, don't go to Starbucks.

i pay $2 a coffee and theres no way in giving a big tip. maybe like 10 cents. next thing u know we'll be tipping for movie rentals and mcdonalds. im sure that coffee they charge 2 bucks for is really like 20 cents!

I was thinking of starting this exact same thread this morning. Deja Vu. It all depends on my schedule. Mondays Wednesday's are my later classes so I usually get up and have 2-3 cups before I leave. Tuesday's and Thursdays I have early class and usually stop off at that convenience store and pick up a No Fear energy drink. Those REALLY get the day going.

I hate coffee! I drink water like...well i was gonna say a fish, but I don't think they drink water, the just swim in it so...I just drink a lot of water, 3 gallons a day sometimes. I have 4 beverages of choice, water, unsweetened iced tea, hot tea with sugar and milk and alcohol...that is all

I have an expresso machine at home. I drink 4 large mugs when I get up in the morning. Then 2 around lunch and 2 more after dinner. It use to wig me out but now I think I have grown an imunity to it or something. My teeth are not black from it at all. I brush like 4 times a day and chew lots of gum. But I do have trouble sleeping at night. I only get like 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night. I am useless with out my expresso's :silly:

Has anyone who drinks a lot of caffeineated beverages,( coffee, tea, cola) ever experience withdrawal symptoms when they went without their drinks for a day or two? Years ago when I drank a lot more coffee and tea, I would experience headaches, and general lethargy when I didn't have my usual drink. These symptoms went away soon after consumption of caffeine. Doctors liken it to withdrawal symptoms of those who quit smoking or certain illegal drugs.
Caffeine has been known to increase the power of certain pain relievers when it is taken together. Like drinking a Coke or coffee with your ibuprofen, Tylenol, or aspirin. I think a couple of over the counter pain relievers had a version that was coated with caffeine to improve it's pain relieving properties.

I drink a large cup every morning to help wake me up. I just make it at home with the instant stuff, too cheap to buy it. And i'd never tip at a coffee place, its their job to make my coffee. The only place i tip is at a restaurant with waiteresses or the bar sometimes.

Also drink alot of tea, Polish people drink tea religiously with a slice of lemon

There is a way to make a ghetto-kinda-mocha. It isn't really a mocha, but it is damn good.
1. Go to a gas station
2. Go to the cappuccino machine and get a glass
3. Fill it 2/3 with cappuccino (i prefer french vanilla)
4. Fill the rest with hot chocolate from the other machine.
5. Put whipped cream on it if the gas station has it, or run home and put some on top.

Very tasty and only costs $1.29 around here......

I only use a little bit of skim milk, mostly to cool it down a little. One of my pet peeves is coffee machines that make your coffee so friggen hot it takes 20 minutes before you can drink it. When I buy a cup of coffee that means I want it NOW dammit. I do not enjoy melted flesh from the inside of my mouth in my coffee.

That's so true. Our local Dunkin' Donuts are like that. The coffee and Dunkacchinos are so hot, and you have to wait so long for them to cool down enough to enjoy. Bring the temperature down a few notches so we can drink it right away.
