is it hard to install strut mounts on 240 DL ?

my '83 240 DL 's strut mounts are cracked and need to be replaced. i can get a new set but i would like to know how hard it is to install myself and what tools i would need. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ..

I didn't try to do it, but I understand that the hard part is removing the large nut on top of the strut. Sounds like the only way to get it off is with an impact wrench. You need a spring compressor like any macpherson strut arrangement. I opted for the $130 option and had my Korean mechanic install it instead of me knuckle busting. I bought the struts at Auto Zone for $34 each. I think they wanted $15 for the new strut tower. Anyway, good luck.

It is best to use impact wrench. Sometimes some slackening whilst still on vehicle followed by undoing large nut whilst using open end spanner on shock. Make sure you use spring compressor.
