climate control flash

Since a few days the temperature display is flashing for a few seconds after starting the engine. I know this feature if the outside temperature are around 0°C. But currently we have 15°C.
Any suggestions?

hey,
well for starters, you could check if there is something wrong with the climat control
like if you start the car, and press the buttons OFF and WARM at the same time for like, 3 - 5 seconds,, ( not sure about the buttons though, anybody can confirm this?) it will get you in a diagnostic mode and give you a code or codes and then you post them here.. some people in here know them and will respond back, and that SHOULD tell you whats is going on with the climat control.

If the numbers are flashing means the computer has a stored code. I would also bet that you will have a code 66 which is a low freon code.

You can only get R134a, which replaced the environmental unfriendly previous R12. In order to refill your a/c you need to convert to the new R134a or you will destroy your compressor. To convert you need to do the following. You need to buy a new drier and a set of gaskets (o-rings) that are compatible with R134a. You need to dissassemble all lines! and replace the old o-rings with the new ones. You also need to take off the compressor, drain the old oil that sits in there, and refill with some new compressor oil ( again R134a compatible) by turning the compressor by hand while filling in the oil from the back.After you put everything back together you can have the system refilled again and it will last you a long time. If you do anything other, say goodbye to your a/c. You also won't be able to refill the system yourself, as the compressor will not kick in to charge the system when it was that low on freon. I can give you a contact in the states for the parts (drier and o-rings) where I purchased exactly those parts. If you want to buy the drier in Europe its 150 Euro for the drier alone. (I paid that for all the parts and the professional recharge)Do not purchase one of those do it yourself convert kits with gas, cause you won't be able to do anything with it.
