Hello from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada..........eh!
Have been having a problem with my 2000 Hyn, Accent. It seems to run fine, and mileage isnt bad, but on the odd ocassion, under acceleration, it pings, which is not good. And also rarely when idling, the revs drop a bit then come back to normal. I bought a obd2 code reader for the tool box (shops want a fortune to diagnose), and came up with P1128. From reading the posts in this site the MAF keeps coming up. The problem is the only place to get one up here is Hyundai..........500 dollars!!!!!!!!
Apparently Canada doesn't do the remanufactured parts thing as fast and the States. Having said that, I work for a trucking firm, and a driver can pick one up for me south of the border. Also having said that, I want to be POSITIVE its the MAF before shelling out the money!!
TIPS ANYONE? And what can I use to check for air leaks? Carb cleaner? THANKS

I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent as well. I had the exact same problem with my car. As it turns out the MAF had to be replaced, it was shot. I'm in Ontario and the only place to buy one was Hyundai as well $500 here. Seems to be a common problem with these cars. Now I've got code p00422 showing up......watch for that one...could be the 02 sensor

Had the same problem with my wifes Accent...way to tell if its the MAF is unplug it (it will go into a safe mode) and if the car responds way better like it was new , then its the MAF...it will still idle crappy and you may have to two foot it at a stop light (my case i didn't)
The availablility of MAFS new is tough...seems nobody carried them or could order them....only hyundai directly ...so i called up a local auto wrecker and grabbed one for $65 u.s with a 100 day warranty lol
hey it works...for how long not sure , but money was a bit tight and she just started a new job with a 20 mile drive....had to unplug the MAF to drive to the auto junk yard to pick up the part...soon as i put it in , takes like 2 minutes to do ...worked great and knew it was fixed right away
good luck
