This is the Fujimi model (1:24 scale). I've been working on it for about a week now, mostly sorting out the ride height. I took about 3mm out of it. Today I primered everything.

In this picture the red rings show where i removed plastic and opened it up. I will put mesh behind these holes.

Here is the chassis which is painted the colour that the body will be. A metallic green.

And here are the wheels i will be using. The kränze Cerberus.

Looking likes its going to be a fun build! I like that green on the chassis. What size are those wheels? Are you keeping the suspension stock?

ImolaEK

Nice colour:) Do those wheels fit?

Tikiman
04-12-2005, 06:18 AM
Yeah the wheels fit fine. They are 18 inch.
Instead of cutting down the suspension i made holes in the chassis so that the shocks go through those holes and lower the car.

I have tried shortening socks before but with bad results.

As stated, interesting way to lower a model car. I'd like to give that method a shot on my next build. Thanks for sharing your technique.

Thanks guys. I thought you would all say i was stupid or something. :)
It's not the most elegant way to lower a car and I'm sure the detail freaks would like to strangle me, but personally i think it is a very effective way of lowering. I'm not sure if it is usable on a car with an engine bay though, but for curbsides it does the job. I would just say that there are other places that you will have to take plastic from and the swing arms i heated and bent upwards to fit right. I also needed to modify the rod that makes sure the wheels face in the same direction.

Hi Vtak. How far have you got? Everyone should build one of these. Quite a simple kit but looks cool.

Here's where i am so far.
The underside is done. And i have painted the body with the colour and will do the clear coat very soon.
Then i have to finish the interior. Which is dark grey with red accents and seats.

Here is some more progress.

I completed the interior:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/3347/203672PICT1607.jpg

And the lights. First i put BMF in the light clusters because it is better than any silver paint i have.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/3347/203672PICT1608.jpg

Then i looked on the net at lots of different light styles on Integras. I decided to go with these:

Thanks Mike. I've just put some clear on the whole thing. Does anyone else put lights on and then clear coat, or clear coat first?
Then to the horror that is painting the window trim. Da da daaaaaaa!! Then it is done. Hope i didn't mess the ride height up somewhere along the way. :disappoin

Nice colour! Nice tail lights. Are you going to paint the other parts of the headlights black to make it like the Type R headlights? Or just leave them like that like the SiR-G Integra which has the all chrome housing.

Fantastic paint and excellent look with the lights. The paint looks so smooth and consistent, good job. And as said above, the taillights look just like the real car, hope you're enjoying this project as much as we all are

I did them like this because i thought they looked the best.

Thanks and yes this is a good project to work on. I was getting a bit bored of model making but this one has picked things back up for me.

So far so good tiki. Im also doing this exact model. This will be my first car to lower. Im still debating on whether to use your method of cutting off some chasis and the melting prosses to bend parts, or the cutting of the shocks to make smaller. I was thinking about how i can melt the parts to then bend. Only way i can think of is to place the part i want melted a foot or so over the stove fire and then reshape the part. How did you melt your parts?
