I installed my car audio head unit in today and it works fine. I then try to start my truck and it wont start. It doesnt even crank, I just get the clicking sound. I checked all of the fuses on the driver side cab and also the fuse box near the battery. They are all ok.
Then I thought it could be the battery so i got jumper cables and another car and it wont even crank still. All my lights work, headlights, interior etc.
What could be wrong? I have a 99 tacoma 2wd 2.4 with 101k miles on it.
Could it be the starter? But I just drove with it before i installed it and it started fine. about 5 cranks which is typical of tacomas i hear.
PLEASE HELP! IM SOO STUCK!
THANK YOU!!!!

"I installed my car audio head unit in today and it works fine."
If the truck was running before installing the audio head I would disconnect the audio head and see if the truck will start.
If it runs when the audio head is disconnected then something is wrong with the installation

You also need to find out why it takes 5 cranks for your Tacoma to start, that isn't normal for Tacoma's or any other normal vehicle. When were the plugs and air filter last changed?

okay will try to unplug the audio connections.
Do you think my battery could be dead? If my battery is partially dead then wouldnt my starter at least crank a few times? I am thinking maybe its because I had both doors open when I installed the stereo...:(
Yea i checked the air filter, it is quite dirty...dang I think its still the OEM from 1999 air filter LOL.
Boy I hope the truck starts!
