New Owner With Problems

Hey every one I just bougth a 87 rx-7 but I don't know anything about them Not even what model I bought, My problem is that when I turn the key over it doesn't crank at all, I checked the switch and it does trow power thru the cable for the starter but that is it, but i don't here anything going on and also the guy go sold it to me said that if friend was messing around eith the distribuitor and it din't tutn own no more. I just towed it home tonightm, what should I check for? as far as it not cranking and how do i set up the distribuitor?
just for the record I have only owned hondas so i'm lost when it comes to the rx-7 but I'm ready to be different it try something better.

did u check your fuses?
did you check the starter?
BTW RX7's dont have distributors. they have a thing called CAS
P.S: did you get the V6 or the inline-4 :evillol: :nono: :rofl:

yes I checked the fuses but not the starter, and as far as the cas what those it stand for and how do i set it back to stock? and no i'm not that lost to as far as not knowing about the rotary engine

v6 or inline 4? what are u talking about? rotarys dont have valves, or cylinders.

CAS = crank angle senser, i belive its that black circle on the right side of the engine.
your engine may be flooded as well, if thats the case then pull both the EGI fuses underhood and crank it over like 10 times (like 2 secs each crank) then put the fuse back in an try to start it like normal.

drftk1d, that is a great trick, i use that often, but he said it doesnt crank at all, must be a defective part.

ok well its cranking but its not turning on, now my question is; on the "cas" is there any way that you adjusted? bk the guy who sold it to me said that they wanted to advance the timing so they were messing with that and that they couldn't get it to turn on no more so i'm wondering if that is it?

try the fuse trick mentioned above, i have to do that cause it floods often, if not, go to mazda. noone can give u a diagnosis over the net.

you turn the CAS clockwise or counter-clockwise
