ok let me start with this, i took my manafold off and every thing tb egr plate every thing. i was going to get the bbk ssi intake manafold but can its on back order for like a month, and now i need a car, so i put every thing back to gether, my car has ben sitting all winter, i never drained the oil or any thing, i think i got the timing on the disributer right, but when i start it it runs but it revs up and down and sounds like its going to die, then when i push the gas it revs and then the rpms go down and i cant push on the gas any more, it does nothing and then it dies, there is a lot of smoke comeing out off the tail pipe too. then theres a poping nois in the cylinder. any ideas.

You definately have the timing off, bro. You need to start back from scratch and check it over. Honestly it would be nice to know what type of engine you have and what year of car

#1 piston at TDC then the rotor button pointing at the #1 possition on the distributor cap? You may have it 180* out.

Pull the spout out and check your timing with a timing light.

I think you can get a timing light at Sears. I think local parts shops carry them sometimes too.

I'd suspect a vacuum leak or timing off or both. You definately need a timing light if you're tryin to set the timing... can't do it without it.

Leasnred that the hard way when i had to replace the control module on my 1990 f-150 5.0. had to pull the dist out to get the module off, set the dist back in right but now it spark knocks under a load and there id deffinately a loss of power. Timing can make or brake your engine.

ok ut runs but when i put it in gear it ether dies or when i push on the gas it smokes alot out of the right Exaust pipe, the idel does not really go up and down any more like it use to, untill i try to drive it. it sound fine untill i try to drive it.
