Exhaust cutouts

Im am really thinking about getting exhaust cutouts, but i have some questions about them first:
Are they as good as a catback exhaust in terms of horsepower?
Do you even need a catback exhaust if you have cutouts?
Should you go with a single or dual on 2002 z28?
What size to go with on the stock exhaust?
My dad says that without back pressure you have some sort of burn up? but i think that the cats creat enough back pressure to prevent this?

you're definately are going to need some backpressure.
if your going to get cut outs, dont waste any money on exhaust. your car has a lot more sensors on it than mine tho, im pretty sure that will turn your check engine light on.

do they really knock .3 seconds off you et?
do you have to do anything special to your engine for running such low back pressure?
i am planning on leaving the cats on...

If you put it AFTER cats there will bo no code stored. if you put it BEFORE cats you will have mroe gains but unless you program it or put in an o2 sim, you'll set a code.

Are you putting it on before or after the cats?
Dyno gains show a typical 10rwhp/6rwtoruqe for cutouts on a ls1 powered car.
I put mine a little farther back then i should of(right before the muffler) and it is not quite as loud as i would like it to be but it still sounds good

i think you pretty much have to put the cut out after the cat on ls1 car right, arent they dual cats on the y-pipe?

yeah there 2 cats in the y pipe, i figure putting just one cutout in right where the 2 pipes come into 1 under the passenger side of the car

no put them in before the cat and run a toggle to turn on a o2 simulator and back pressure loss only contributes to lose of a slight amount of torque unless you are idleing at like 400 rpms and have no manifolds \or headers and you might (very slight chance) singe an exhaust valve its a myth that you burn something up ive got a 92 saturn that i run 421 headers o it and thats it and she runs like a champ andf thats all allumkinum and its pretty neat to see a saturn that spits flames and sounds bad ass (well actually it is bad ass nort only sounds it tunintg by me)

nothin like the good ol single cat with no sensors after it, easy to get rid of the guts.

What do u mean run a toggle switch for the 02 sims? The only way that would work is to run the 02 simms the whole time. U cant un plug ur 02 sensor and plug the sims in with a flip of a switch.
