rb25 or rb26

ok i got my 91 240 now and now the engine swap. I've been looking at everything and am uncurtain. I want this to be a street legal car and can't find if a rb25 or a rb26 can be done street legal. Anyone have any links or something or know themselves if either or both can be done street legal and what has to be done.

You keep saying "street legal". What do you mean by that? Are you asking if the engine itself is legal in the car? If so then no, neither of them are legal. The SR isn't legal either though.

any engine that is imported or JDM is not legel. But that doesnt mean you cant get around it..

j spec how nice of u to show up now stick around. they arent street legal because they do not come is US spec cars (i guess thats what they are called). j spec the Frontwheel drive SR is legal blah see u arent always right

what about OBD-II scans/ emission check ups?.. i live in NY, are any of these engines able to pass the emissions testing?

FWD SR20DE is legal, not the FWD SR20DET :biggrin:

All of them are able to pass emissions testing with the right tuning. Stock SR's can pass emissions testing.

havent had time to look i have to many papers to write. what about a fwd sr20 w/ after market turbo. hmm so sit that(proceeded by a annoying noise made by one of the ying yang twins)

SR can pass emissions, but it will fail visual, no matter what. If you dont have visual, then your in luck! The 200sx (USDM) SR20 or the J20 SR are legel in the US, but those are the FWD versions and i dont think will be able to be swapped into a 240...idk, im just taking a poke at it...

The FWD SR aint the same animal as the RWD SR.

if you want legal stick with the ka

all these people wanting to do swaps still? im still a big fan of the KA, plenty of power gains and loads of torque. not a bad motor after a rebuild either...

rb25 or 26 is either legal....but can be done...i go with the rb25...easier to work with...plus..can make as much power as a 26...but do what you want...ill throw a supra rz into a 240 if i had the money...its a better engine...

Nope. Only thing keeping my top speed down is a limiter. HP and gearing determines top speed potential.
