It is the air cleaner temp sensor, also known as the air intake sensor.

Yip, it is called the IAT.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor.

well I found it in one of my books and it saids the Intake and coolant sensor values are usually the same and the resistance should be 3,000 ohms @ room temp and that this type of sensor in expensive!! Doesn't say if its a major part for performance! Anyone know?

the IAT is a major part of the system that controls your fuel/air mixture. If it isn't functioning correctly, your SES light would be flashing. You can clean it with some brake cleaner ( do not get brake cleaner on the plastic or electronic parts) or a shot of air. ( careful, not too hard).

Major sensor that controls air/fuel ratio.

Richens up the fuel mixture when the air is cold seeing colder air has more oxygen and the fuel has to be riched up to stop detonation.

It wasn't that expensive when I checked the price.

well my SES light isn't/hasn't ever flashed...but I took it out and cleaned and gave it a shot of air...babies idlein better than it ever has! SO now I'm not sure if it was the IAC or the IAT...I'm sooooo confused...WHOEVER THOUGHT OF THOSE DARN OLE SENSORS ANYWAY!
I have another question..is there anyway of testin the oxygen sensor?

You will have to hook it up to a scanner and monitor live data stream sensor counts.
