Alright, I got an 88 crx si. Just got a new motor put in about 3 months ago, ran fine the whole time except for an exhaust leak where the header meets the cat. I was driving a couple days ago when the Check Engine light came on, so I checked the ecu and got a code 1, (Oxygen) Sensor? It blinked that for a day or two and today when I was on my way to work I got halfway up my street and my rpms went from 2 k to 0, back up to 2k and then died... I tried starting it again with no luck. Pushed it all the way home, went out and got an oxygen sensor. Plugged it in and still no luck... I'm kind of dumbfounded on this, help anyone? Thanks.

what does it do when you try to start it? does it crank? does it try to start and backfire or anything? 3 things needed to start an engine... compression, spark, and proper air/fuel ratio.

Oh yeah it cranks, it just will not start. When I started it this morning, it was at about 1500-1750 rpms for about 10 seconds, then it stalled hardcore, recovered, and stalled again, all the while the check engine light going on and off, with ecu flashing code 1, o2 content? It died, and I wasnt able to start it back up. so I replaced o2 sensor, and still cannot start it, it tries and tries, but to no prevail... Hum, hope this explains a little better..?

sounds like a fuel problem. Make sure your fuel pump isn't going out intermitenly. If it was a spark problem then you would probably have it as soon as it starts, but it sounds like maybe the fuel pump is priming up but somethings happening after that, change the fuel filter first to see if that helps. If you have a way to check fuel pressure check it out.

Alright, now this is what gets me. I decided to try and start the car again... starts right up. Kind of puzzled, so I let it warm up to idling rpm and I give it some gas and stay at 2 k for oh about 3 or 4 minutes. Whatdya know, check engine light flashes and it starts throwing code 1 out AGAIN. Brand new o2 sensor, what else could it be?! I am fixing the exhaust leak tomorrow morning, could this have anything to do with it? I believe I am missing the flange gasket, so itll be replaced. HELP PLEASE?!

well, if you are getting to lilttle or too much fuel it can cause sensors to get bad readings, especially a o2 sensor when it comes to your fuel mixture.

Sounds like your coil or ignitor might be going out. Also check your rotor button.

wouldn't that give him problems from start up? it is strange that it can run for a while and then go out like you say. do you have any engine codes? maybe that can help out a little more but it could be alot of things just like anyhting else.

Mine was throwing a code 1 and kept dieing. Took it to honda and they said my dizzy housing needed to be replaced. Replaced and ran fine. Then it started running about 1.5-2k sputtering like he said also and it turned out to be a bad plug.
