Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept

Another quick concept idea I had for what an Eclipse could be. I really hate the direction Mitsubishi has taken with that car, it looks so heavy and overweight now. My favorite was the 95-99 body. I finished this sketch a couple of weeks ago.

Looks cool! Love the design of the tail lights. Perspective's very good.

Cool, I wish mitsubishi would move in THAT direction with the new model.

Have you seen the old 05 concept? Rear engine, looks kinda like an egg? CRAZY design, actually remotely similar to yours! If I can find pics, they shall be posted

I don't know I think the production 2006 version of the Eclipse looks pretty good and takes some of the looks fron the 2g model. If they take out the bulbous back and replace it with that and more people might like it even more.

It looks like a semi-cute fat chick.
I guess they need love, too.

It has lot of tuning possibilities in my opinion and for suby, I think your idea may come in another mitsu production line! and would surely prefer to drive your concept rather than the new galant. But the VR4 was a nice one

Did you completely miss my point suby, I said that if you back was added to the upcoming model it would look less bulbous or how you put it fat. :smokin:

Even though I admit the your scetched back might even give a more forward looking, roadster like appearence if complented with the design of the 2004 Elcipse concept. But if you have other things in mind of how the frontal area should look like do tell.

Oh no, I understood you VADOR, I was just making an observation on the picture you posted.

I think for the most part the entire Mitsubishi line, with the exception of the Evo, has put on lots of weight. At least in looks the cars seem to be heavy and boring. I remember Mitsus sportier, leaner days of the 3000GT, the 89-03 Galants (VR4), the 92-03 Diamantes, and 2nd Gen Eclipse. Recently their designs have gone to hell in a hand basket. :shakehead

Just my :2cents:

Some of my next drawings will be focusing on Galant and Lancer.

The galant badly needs a redesigned shape. It went from an agressive stance to a passive one. The lancer looks ok coz it has a serious opponent to deal with...the impreza.

3.8L V6 with 260 Horse and 260 fb torqe, with 650 watt Rockford Fosgate 6 CD Stereo with 8 speakers, 10" Subwoofers. You will be able to buy parts crazy,

With the new Eclipse being based on the Galant platform, you are right about it putting on more weight and being a bit less sporty but the fact is they want to run up more competition to the Scion Tc or Tiburon. As for the Galant I think it could of been worse and it actually has decent performance for a mid-sized sedan. Just take a look at the Galant Ralliart for example which will go into production, or at least most of the modifacations.

Tis a shame it doesn't come with AWD. It would not be that hard or at least finding parts wise since you just have to bolt right up a whole transmission unit from the EVO VIII, doing it yourself might get labor intensive and if the bolt patterns are indeed the same. But for the auto company to do this is pretty inexcusable. This can also apply to the new Eclipse as an aftermarket idea for some.

95-99 was my fav. year for the eclipse too. The only thing I had against it was the lump in the middle of the hood. Or was it more towards the right side? You get the point :D
