Just wondering what you guys think about this. I want a 3rd gen Camaro so bad, but might be able to afford a 4th gen by the time I actually end up buying a car lol. Do you think I should just aim for a 4th gen? Thanks.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I've been looking for a car for about 6 months, and for the first few months all I wanted was a V8 Third Gen. Then, as gas prices continued to climb and me not buying a car was resulting in my finances accumulating, I decided I might be able to afford 4th Gen V6 (There's no way I could afford gas/insurance on an LT1). But after shopping around for one of those for a couple months I discovered they're rare and hideously overpriced, so I'm now back to a V8 Third Gen. And I'm probably be buying an 89 Iroc before Wednesday, so my search appears to be just about over. I hope yours goes well :D
Bottom line is, if you have the cash for a 4th Gen and you like them more, it's probably better to get one because according to what I've read/heard, 4th Gens are a lot more reliable. You also won't have as much of a problem getting a Fourth Gen as me, as I seem to be in a horrible car market for this.

Haha, glad you finally found a Maro. My problem with the 3rd gen would be finding one with A. No rust, and B. Not a bijillion miles(you know what I mean).
Btw, no 4th gens came with the 8 cylinder manual correct? I know the 3rd gens didn't but Im just checking.

There are standard V8 3rd Gens.

305 had manuals but i think the 350s were all autos. And why u say rust and miles mine has No rust at all under or body and just cracked a 100k last summer. But fuel mileage SUCKS in my 305, where as the LT1,LS1 are known to good gas mileage. Idk bout common problems with them but i know the 3rd gens have a fule pump issue espically if u let it run around/under 1/4 tank.
