Hi everybody,
I would like to ask a few questions, Here they are:
If a turbo is a T04 or TD04(I think), what does this mean?
Is T51(T51R Kai and T51R SPL) a type of turbo or is it just a name given by HKS. Greddy has T78. Garett has T03 and T04?? Does these numbers have any meaning? :eek7:

Just model names. T3 adn T4 from garrett refer to turbine inlet flanges as well.

Greddy, HKS and similar doesn't make any turbochargers, they are actually turbochargers made by Garrett, MHI...

TD04 is a series made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, T04E and T04B are series made by Garrett. T04B is actually an old RotoMaster turbocharger, they where later bought by Garrett (Honeywell).

The turbocharger series is usually based on the size of the bearing housing and turbine.

If we take Garrett T04E as an example, you can get that turbocharger in several versions by combining housings, wheels and so on. There are infact several hundred types of T04E availible depending on what you need.

If we take the newer Garrett GT-series, GT42 indicate the basic size of the bearing housing and turbine. The two following numbers is the exducer size of the impeller in mm, For example GT4282RC indicates a GT42 with a 82 mm impeller, R = ball bearings, C = ceramic turbine.
