Walk for charity.

Just thought I would post this here in case anyone wants to help out. A friend of mine (one of the POSR crew) has a GF with Cystic Fibrosis. Its a life threatening disease, average life expentancy is 25-30 years. She's 21 now, and in and out of the hospital constantly. He asked me if I would like to donate a couple bucks since he is doing a walk to raise money for charity (for research.. they are making some advances with some new medications already). I told him I'll do one step better and do the walk with him. The orginization is called "Great Strides" and all money goes to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Its a 10 kilometer walk in marlboro MA, on may 22.
Just going along for the walk wont help anyone though, I need to bring some cash. :) I got a few bucks from family, and a few from some coworkers. If anyone wants to contribute some small amount (like 5 dollars) please feel free to paypal it to me ([email protected] is the paypal ID). It would be aprreciated. If only 20 poeple can donate 5 bucks I can at least show up with 100 dollars to add to the pot. I will add together all of the AF contributions and sumbit them under the name "Automotive Forums." I think its cool when an automotive community can pull together and contribute to a good cause. NEDSM was a huge help when my younger brother had a benefit to help pay his bills when he was out of work (mitsu mechanic) with cancer, donating a total of 585 dollars. My whole family was absolutely blown away.
I'm probably going to need a wheelchair after this 10km walk, but its for a good cause. :) Thanks for the space guys.

More poeple have sent money than have posted in this thread. I have made the 100 dollar goal! And about 80% of it is from you guys. :) Everyone has been very generous. Awesome. I'm glad that I wont be showing up empty handed. Now I just have to figure out how to survive the 6 miles.... :D Luckily there is still more than a month to go.
Thanks again guys. :)

Yeah its pretty scary when you consider that the average life expentancy is 25 years, and she's about 22. But thats what raising this money is for, to fund research for treatments and ultimately a cure.
I need to start getting in shape. I'm a solid 10-15 pounds over weight. I dont know if that weight loss will get me into the 10s, but it will get me .01-.015 seconds closer :D

What is the rate... 1 lb weight reduction is equal to .001 seconds? I thought I remember reading that somewhere...he he he

Yes, 100 lbs is about a tenth reduction in ET. I would have to lose over 300 pounds for my last run to be in the 10s, LMAO. The car could certainly stand to lose 30 pounds though...
