Putting in a new ecu for your gs would be a bad idea unless its built. You should worry about I/H/E or turbo if thats the way your going. Only ecu upgrade I know of for a non-eprom ecu would be a jetchips. They rework your timing and fuel maps but its expensive and not very cost effective.

why isnt it good to buy an ECU upgrd for the gs modle?

because they arent really upgrades. More like what whathits14 said. Add-on should be a better name. If there was a REAL upgrade, i'd have one right now.

unlike other cars, DSM's don't benifit much from chips. again Intake, header, exhaust.

hahaha...cousin (ricer) wants to know why DSMs dont benefit much from chips as much as Honda ECUs. Sorry dudes, I tried to explain to him, but he wont believe what i said.
back to it, i'd agree with whathits14, start with the basics in that motor.

Yes, most DSM's don't benifit from ECU upgrades. This is true for NT and stock turbo ones....If you have more than 300 HP, it might be a good idea to invest in a upgrade ecu. After 400 you will definitly want a upgrade. Check out DSMlink, the best ecu management for the DSM, has many of the benifits of a standalone, but is not standalone and you won't have to take AEM's 2 week course on how to tune their standalone. AEM's stand alone is kinda the name in standalones, but is expensive and someone who does not know how to tune it will go insane trying.
Dsm's dont really have as many options as hondas do for upgraded ecu's. The ones we do have are for mostly convience mods, fuel cut elim, stutterbox etc. Keydriver chips are good for rechipping an ecu, but I say just go with DSMlink. Much more bang for the buck.
