Hey all got a qestion for you on retiming a 83 jetta......
Had the water pump go out on my jetta and when i repalced it (took for friggin ever, the average temp in my garage was in the 20's) and i got it back together and she won't start....
any resources out there that can either show me an easy diagram how to retime or any hints ? would love to get it back on the road for the summer

Use the small 0, not the V notch on the flywheel (through the hole on the trans bell housing). Remove the distributor cap, rotor & dust cap to see the notch in the top of the housing, turn the rotor to align with this notch. On the cam sprocket there is a dot or line mark on the backside, align this with the top edge of the cylinder head (valve cover mating surface. Manuals are fairly cheap for the early models.
