cold start engine noise

I have an '04 Grand Prix GT W/3.8 engine. On cold starts, there is a definite lower engine "rattle". This lasts only a second, but sounds as if "something" is very dry upon starting.
Contact with the dealer has ranged from, "They all rattle" to replacing the lifters. But the noise is still there.
Anybody out there with similar problems or solutions?

How many miles on your car? There are several items that can cause this problem from lifters to a belt tensioner. If it only occurs on start up and for only a second or two it may just be lifters building up pressure. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the car develops a rattle all the time. If your car is still under warranty have the dealer look at it to try to diagnose the problem. Shouldn't cost you anything at this point.

Do you have a CAI? I've heard that they (CAI's) have a rattle on them until the car warms up.
