ok well i have a 1995 transam with the Delco CD 10 speaker system

the radio is fine but the CD pickup motor is starting to go so i am looking at how to replace it

is there a seperate amp for this system? or is the deck unit powering the whole system?

can someone send me a wiring diagram of the entire sterio system?

im also looking at replacing some door speakers because they are starting to crackle

thanks in advance for the help!

o and if i replace the stereo, is there still a way to keep the volume, and play controls on the steering wheel? even if i have to take the new deck apart and wire it under a microscope?

The easiest way to swap out your radio would be to buy a harness (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-N3tX4mLCTmC/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&I=120701858) to hook up your new radio. And for your steering wheel controls to be converted to still work, you'll need this adapter (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-N3tX4mLCTmC/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=118900&I=127SWIX). The adapter transfers the signal from your steering wheel controls into and infrared signal, such as that coming from your remote.

I don't have a wiring diagram to send you, but I think jason-1995fbody has some in his gallery. You really shouldn't have to worry about messing with any factory amps to install a new head unit. Unless you do change out the factory speakers, then I would assume you would need to remove the amps. I still have my stock speakers (only because they still sound awesome), so I'm not completely sure as to whether or not you should leave the amps in if you change the speakers.

wow that helps alot, too bad there isnt some kind of direct wire to use the controls on the steering wheel

what about something to fill up the gaping hole when i remove the head unit?

Here's a mounting kit (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-bd1wni7Xvvl/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=120993009&id=morephotos&a=&s=0&cc=01&g=112200#morephotos) that will fit right into the original space for the radio, and size it down so you can put the smaller head unit in. Or, if you would prefer to stick with a new head unit that's the same size so you wont need a resize kit, Pioneer makes 2 cd players that will fit exactly like the factory radio does. Here's the links to them.

The two are basically the same, just different face colors. Let me know if you need any more help.

and one has a remote

what about the steering wheel hook ups? and is it the exact same output as the original stereo?
