1995 Riviera rear brakes replace problem

I have a 1995 Buick Riviera V6 3.8l Super-charged. Replacing the pads and roters. I replaced the front pads and roters without a problem. The back brakes are different. I can't compress the piston to get the new pads in place.

I tried bleeding the brakes and releasing the emerency brake cable. Neither worked. What am I missing? Is there a special tool to compress the back piston?

I found out what the problem was... I don't know why the rear brakes are any different from any other car or why their different from the front brakes... but apparently you have to turn the piston clockwise about a turn and a half and it will compress the piston.

I guess some cadillac rear brakes are the same way.

How did you even get the rear calliper off. i see 1 bolt at the bottom but nothing on the top to hold it in place.

I'm sorry Dude. I sold my Riviera about 5 months ago.

But if I remember correctly, getting the back brake shoes off wasn't a problem. It was just like any other car with 4 wheel disk brakes.

You might want to use some brake cleaner to see if the other bolt is covered in muck.

It slides off the upper pin, once the lower bolt is out. BTW, in the future start a new thread, this one was a year and a half old!

My husband is changing the rear brake pads on my 2001 Buick Park Ave. (We just got this car from a family member) and he was trying to figure out why he couldn't compress the pistons.
