loud clicking in steering column

So yea my mom complained about her steering making a loud noise so i checked on here and one post said put power steering fluid in... well hers was good and it did not smell burnt. So i took the car for a drive up the road and there it was as soon as i turned the wheel it was clicking like a piece of plastic broke off. Also you have to manually turn off the blinker light it does not turn off when you put the wheel straight

any ideas on what this could be. My mother is very cautious about driving and now shes affraid to drive the car.

sounds like your multifunction switch is broken and check clockspring also to make sure it's not damaged also
