4l80e rebuild

I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with transmission rebuilders. Some one told me that the electronics in these transmissons is not easy to rebuild and I should get one from the dealer anyone with an opinions. Its in a 95 gmc sierra 4x4

I read somewhere that the electronics/computer, actually make the transmission easier to rebuild by eliminated a lot of the valving control setup. But since I have absolutely no first hand experience with rebuilding one, old or new, what do I know. I think a quality rebuild will be better then a OEM replacement.

I have a 1996 3500 4X4 with 6.5TD with a 4L80E tranny 200,000 miles, just died last snow storm with my son. Reverse went, and on the way to rebuilder forward gears started to go also..
So, drove back home. bought manual, and video on how to rebuild. There are many kits to buy, none with hard parts, some with updates some without. What companies and their products do I stay away from? I mean the original tranny lasted 200,000 miles. Should I, or could I just go with a kit from advance auto for $200.00? I've never done a transmission before, would like to try, regular clutches, alto brand, regular steels, ??? not sure who to buy a kit from.. a shop I contacted yesterday, was talking about some of the parts he uses and some he stays away from, but I didnt write any of this down, any help, or guidence on which way to start would be helpful, thanks, appreciate it very much. greg
