B2200 2 barrel carb?

In the past few months I've systematically taken my truck, which hardly ran when I got it, and replaced nearly everything; that is, everything I understand, which brings me to the carb. The whole mess of spaghetti confounds me to no end. I've noticed that the carburetion system on some older trucks just run a two barrel carb, which would eliminate much of the stuff that I don't get. Could an old carb from a Toyota or Dotson be rebuilt and bolted on there? I know that there is a kit I can get from Weber, but that's a little out of my price range right now.
Thanks for any help offered,
Joshua

You can try a Holley 5200 from a 2.3l Ford Pinto or Mustang II. It is a licensed copy of the weber, the adapter plate and air brether from the weber will work just fine but you will have to modifiy the throttle linkage in order to get it to work. I'm running one on my truck right now as well as a couple of people on my site.
