How To: 99' Greddy Evo Install (long, pics) [Post #1]
So I finally got around to installing my Hotshot Header and Greddy Evo Exhaust. The Header was a no brainer, a couple of scrapped knuckles but everything worked out fine.
On the Greddy Evo Exhaust for the 99' there are some mods that you have to do in order to get it to fit right. Here are the photos.

I believe the 2000+ models are a little longer in body length so the exhaust should fit just fine. On the 99' the exhaust is just a little longer than the stock one (Comparison.jpg) The old exhaust measured 31-5/8" from a common mounting point (OldExhaust.jpg) as compared to 33-1/8" on the new one (NewExhaust.jpg). I knew about this from others that had the same problem.
So with that I hacked off the extra length (Cutting.jpg) and prepped the flange to be welded back onto the exhaust (Weld.jpg). It was close, but there was a slight angle on the flange that I noticed. I didnt think too much about it but it came back to haunt me later....
After I started to bolt the assembly back onto the car, I noticed that the muffler was not alingning up with the cut out on the bumper, figured - oh well Ill just modify the bracket. (ModBracket.jpg and ModBrakcet1.jpg) thinking this will solve my problem. It made it better but you can still see the exhaust is not alingned with the cutout on the bumper (Rearview.jpg).
That small angle on the welded flange quickly added up to be a big angle down the road. A lesson learned here, make sure you get that flange nuts on center, or have a professoinal do it.
Ive since fixed that problem and now the muffler sits where it should be. I also had to remove a number of the heat shields due to it rubbing the piping...

cool, great install. well i hav the same set up, and i was just wondering i you had any rattling rom the headers? flexpipe noise? well, just a question, seem like i wasn't the only one having this problem.

Here is an MP3 of the Greddy Evo Exhaust...mind you, this is not a good example of how it really sounds. The microphone was placed about 8 feet directly in back of the exhaust so there is some baffeling in the sound due to the exhaust flow. It actually sounds a little deeper than this. Ill see if I can get a better recording tomorrow...

cool, great install. well i hav the same set up, and i was just wondering i you had any rattling rom the headers? flexpipe noise? well, just a question, seem like i wasn't the only one having this problem.
I am having some hissing noise coming from the engine bay, I think theres a leak on one of the connections, but its only when the engine is under load during driving conditions...Ive yet to isolate the sound. As for rattling, Ive taken some of the heat shields and moded a bracket that is under the car to give more room for the pipe, and that solved those sounds...

it sounds pretty good, better than i thought it would. but, i'm kinda particular about the sound at high revs. i don't like any of the raspy sound. i want a deep, quiet growl through the whole range... anyone know if there's one out there for our cars?

One thing people may want to consider is that if the exhaust tip is near the bumper lips it will cause the bumper paint to burn eventually.
Removing the heat shields (to separate the hot rear muffler from the trunk/gas tank) doesn't seem too safe to me.

love that sound thats what i want but i dont want to spend 450 on an exhaust. i dont think 450 is worth likr 5hp and some nice sound. i'll just burn the mp3 sound and play it verry louad in my car :p :p :p
