Yet another question, this time U-Joints?

I recently started getting a clunk when letting off the gas, and now I'm noticing vibration when driving. My guess is U-Joints. Does anyone know an easy way to check 'em? Also wondering how much of a bi*ch they are to change. Thanks for any info.

not sure of how much they may be a bitch to replace but from what I ahve eben tolkd look at the seal that is between the two knuckles and if it is starting to rust or is rusty in anyway then they are bad and must be replaced. Do you also get a loud clunk when shifting from drive to reverse? If so that is another sig of bad U-joints. Sorry I can't help you anymore than that last vehicle I ahd I dumped it when the U-joints went out because I had alreayd put too much into it. But overall U-joints don't cost that much to repair.

I don't really notice a clunk when shifting into reverse, it just seems to be at take off when I gas it and then let off...there's a clunk. I'm about ready to give this thing to somebody else, before much longer I won't be able to afford gas for it.

if your U-joints are really bad, they'll squeak when your backing up in reverse. The best way to replace them is have a vise and a small socket that's the same size as the joint and press it out.
